1 timothy 5:13
"And withal they learn to be IDLE, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but TATTLERS also and BUSYBODIES, speaking things which they ought not."

"By not gossiping, we create a warm shelter, where those who know us realize they can come and freely discuss any problems they are having without fear that things will be inappropriately discussed or repeated. They can feel comfortable being themselves without fear that their mistakes or personal affairs might become the sport of idle tongues and itching ears. Both parties benefit and bask in this warm shelter."
~Ensign 1998

Do you feel you are considered a warm shelter to those around you? Do people feel safe and unjudged by you?  The Savior taught judge not, and in Moroni 7:18 it says:

"And now my brethren, seeing that you know the light by which ye may judge, which light is the light of Christ, see that you do not judge wrongfully; for with that same judgement which ye judge ye shall also be judged."

  1. I really love your thoughts on gossiping! I love the idea of a warm shelter... so beautiful! Gossiping not only keeps you from the blessings of a warm shelter but it is so damaging to your soul! It is one thing that satan can bind us with quickly. The Holy Ghost must withdraw from us when we gossip leaving us in a bottomless pit. I love that scripture... see that you know the light.... the light of Christ. Great post!
