"Be kind everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle"
~ Marjorie Pay Hinkley

Oh how I love this quote, one of my most favorites. It is so very true, kindness is such a powerful tool in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Sincere love, respect, and kindness to those around us is so important. Every single person is fighting a battle, weather we can see or understand it or not. Life is VERY hard for EVERYONE. NEVER underestimate the power of kindness.

This quote i feel can go along with it
"Never suppress a generous thought"
~Sister Camilla Kimball

Kindness can melt away jealousy, pride, and hate. When you start looking at others positive qualities and then sincerely tell them, you make the battle for others and yourself a little easier to bear.

"We are not just waiting for natural slow growth. We must move more rapidly. We must take things up a notch.  If we have to call down miracles or angels, then call them down. The drama is unfolding and we must do whatever it takes to ratchet up the work.... I feel an incredible burden of urgency.  I feel such a sense of urgency in my chest, I can hardly breath."

"Every dispensation begins with a vision. We must have a vision.  We are a church who dreams dreams. We are the church that HAS VISIONS.  We must BELIEVE IN MIRACLES. We must believe and build on what our forefathers have done.  We are just going to putter along, be average....until we wind up to the level when our heart is up in our throat and if we opened our eyes, we would expect to see angels... if this is God's work, and if he still lives, then the MIRACLES AND ANGELS ARE STILL THERE.  We must live up to our true potential.  God will bless us with whatever we need.  God wants us to just see what he sees and know what he knows.  He wants us to ratchet up the vision.  God is easy to please and hard to satisfy...."

~Elder Holland (mission presidents seminar, Paris France 2005)

This talk makes me want to get to work! Set aside all silly insecurities or trivial issues I am having and get to going! We are here for a reason! We are here to build up the kingdom of God! Where much is given much is required. I am so thankful to be a part of this work!

Hopes and Dreams

"God expects us to have enough faith and determination and enough trust in him to keep moving, keep living, keep rejoicing.  In fact, He expects you not simply to face the future (that sounds pretty grim and stoic).  He expects you to embrace and shape the future- to love it and rejoice in it and delight in your opportunities.

God is anxiously waiting for the chance to answer your prayers and fulfill your dreams.  Just as he always has.  But he can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream.  In short he can't if you don't BELIEVE
~Elder Jeffery R. Holland

I love how he uses the word "dream" everyone has dreams.  I have noticed at certain times of my life when I was the most unhappy it was because I wasn't dreaming. I wasn't praying or believing that things would get better. I know that we have a father in heaven that loves us! He truly wants us to be happy! And he wants to answer our prayers and make our hopes and dreams come true!

Love is spoken here

"The family is eternal. Love must be nurtured. It must be spoken. We must put away our pride, our haughtiness, our shyness, our misunderstandings, and with humility say, "I love you. Is there something I can do to help you?" You can never be completely happy under any other circumstances."

-Marjorie Pay Hinckley

I love this quote. It can be so easy to forget to say that simple phrase "I love you, Is there something I can do to help you?" To those who are closest to us.

"Be still and know that I am God"

"No, it is not without a recognition of life's TEMPESTS but fully and directly because of them that I testify of God's love and THE SAVIORS POWER TO CALM THE STORM.  Always remember in that biblical story that HE was out there on the water also, that HE faced the worst of it right along with the newest and youngest and most fearful. Only one has fought against those ominous waves is justified in telling us- as well as the sea- to "BE STILL"  Only one who has taken the full brunt of such adversity could ever be justified in telling us in such times to "BE OF GOOD CHEER".  Such council is not a jaunty pep talk about the power of positive thinking, though positive thinking is much needed in the world.  No, Christ knows better than all others that the trials of life can be very deep and we are NOT shallow people if we struggle with them.  But even as the Lord avoids sugary rhetoric.  He rebukes faithlessness and he deplores pessimism.  HE EXPECTS US TO BELIEVE!
~Elder Holland (An High Priest of Good Things to Come)

I read this talk and it just brought tears to my eyes it was exactly what I needed to hear. Life can be so hard,  I love how he says we are not shallow if we struggle with them (trials).  Sometimes I have a hard time when it feels like I might just break into pieces, that I am not that strong. I cannot possibly handle what the Lord has given me. But the one thing that gets me through is knowing without a doubt that God is there, he loves me,  he knows me,he knows what I can handle.  Christ can calm the storm in an instant. And Christ knows what this feels like. I don't understand how but I believe that he does.  And I know things will get better. They always do :)  I can "be still" and make it through.

Tender Mercies

"The Lord's timing and his tender mercies are ARE REAL and they do not occur randomly or merely by coincidence. Often the Lord's timing of his tender mercies helps us to both discern and acknowledge them."
~David Bednar

I believe this is true! I feel like sometimes I don't acknowledge these sweet blessings enough in my life. I recently attended a beautiful funeral for Tyler's (my husband) cousins little boy. I have never felt the spirit so strong at a funeral before. The Father gave an amazing talk that I will never forget, one of the things he said was how he and his wife had a tradition that everyday they would look for a miracle that happened that day.
This really touched me and since then I have tried to do the same each day.   As I have been doing this I feel closer to my Heavenly Father, I know even more than ever that he is very aware of me. He loves me and wants to help me.
And I know he loves each of you as well. He wants to help us, and he wants us to acknowledge him in our lives more often.  I know that if we do this we will feel greater peace and optimism in our lives.

Knowing, Loving, Accepting Yourself and Loving Others

*Wrote this about a year ago but wanted to post again :)

So I have been thinking about this topic the past couple days. Why is it that the natural man in so insecure? Why is it that we focus on the things that are wrong with ourselves and make them so huge!? Why can't we just love ourselves as God does? Well I was reading in a book called "And they were not ashamed" (yes it is a book on marriage and intimacy) but this particular section has to do with other things:) The Author states that if we don't develop sufficient love for ourselves, our life focus is on GETTING love instead of GIVING love. Another Christian Author Joe Beam wrote:

"Love your self if you want to learn how to love others. If you don't love yourself as God wants you to, the need for that self-love will become the diversion that interferes with intimacy with others. Your desire for love will loom so large it will overpower any effort you make to give love. But how do we put this self acceptance into practice? We do it by accepting the truth about ourselves."

This is so simple, I feel it has become part of our culture to get love instead of give it. How many people can I get to love me? Accept me? or think I am amazing at this or that? We measure our worth from how many love us? No that should not be the case! We should love ourselves, know that God loves us, and then love others. The scripture, "Love your neighbors as ourselves", is simply stating love your neighbor as God would love them. Love them not so they will love you in return but just love them because that is what God commands us to do.

These are simple things, and we all have heard it before, I am not saying anything new, sometimes it just helps to be reminded, so we can try a "little harder to do a little better", as Gordon B Hinkley would say.

So my prayer for all you today is to be a little kinder to yourself it is ok to be imperfect! You are loved more than you can comprehend by a Father in Heaven, his love for you will never end. Do you feel when you mess up he won't love you? It is not true! Pray to him, ask for his help and I promise you will feel his love. And  as you learn to truly love yourself you will find it easier to see others through Christs eyes.

You have a Choice

"Life gives to all the choice.  You can satisfy yourself with mediocrity if you wish.  You can be common, ordinary, dull, colorless, or you can channel your life so that it will be clean, vibrant, useful, progressive, colorful, and rich."
~Spencer W. Kimball

Really great quote by a great man. It motivates me to want to be better.

“Charity is having patience with someone who has let us down. It is resisting the impulse to become offended easily. It is accepting weaknesses and shortcomings. It is accepting people as they truly are. It is looking beyond physical appearances to attributes that will not dim through time. It is resisting the impulse to categorize others.”

~President Thomas S. Monson
*Charity is such a beautiful subject, it is "the true love of Christ". When we are trying to have more charity in our lives, windows open, we see things through God's eyes. The world is a more beautiful place to be.
I have had experiences where others have "let me down"  as I know everyone else has too, it is part of our earthly experience. I am so thankful, not for the being let down part, : ) But, for this opportunity to grow and learn and try to acquire the talent and gift of Charity.

Divine Beauty

"When you push against the boundaries of experience into the twilight of the unknown, the Lord will strengthen you. The beauty of your eternal soul will begin to unfold."

~Elder Richard G. Scott
Oh how I love this quote. I like how he uses the word "beauty". We all have a certain divine beauty in each of us.  When life gets crazy and hard, it is so comforting to know God will strengthen you, he will be there, he will help you. And ultimately you are the one who benefits.
I remember when I  was getting ready to and then had my heart surgery. I was so worried about the scar. But as time went on I realized, it was nothing to be ashamed of.  When I see it now it reminds myself that I am a survivor, I am strong, I am beautiful.

Life's Experiences

"All intelligent beings who are crowned with crowns of glory, immortality, and eternal lives must pass through every ordeal appointed for intelligent beings to pass through, to gain their glory and exaltation.  Every calamity that can come upon mortal beings will be suffered to come upon the few, to prepare them to enjoy the presence of the Lord. If we obtain the glory that Abraham obtained, we must do so by the same means that he did........ We must pass through the same experience and gain the knowledge, intelligence, and endowments that will prepare us to enter into the Celestial Kingdom of our Father and God...... Every trail and experience you have passed through is necessary for your salvation."  ~Brigham Young

*This is a good quote for me, sometimes when I start to feel sorry for myself, thinking this is just too hard, it reminds me that I know why. I know why I am here and what I am trying to achieve. I know God does not give us more than we can handle. He wants us to come home to him, but in order to do so we have to experience life the good and bad.

The Best You Can

"You are doing the best you can, and that best results in good to yourself and to others. DO NOT NAG YOURSELF with a sense of failure.  Get on your knees and ask for the blessings of the Lord: then stand on your feet and do what you are asked to do."
~President Gordon B. Hinkley
